Tushar Learns about the Corps

Tushar wanted to gain entrepreneurial exposure by helping small organizations make better strategic decisions. "My long term goal has always been of starting a software development firm in India," he explains.

Tushar believed that USALC would not only provide him with a great entrepreneurial skill set but also strengthen his candidacy for a top business school.

One of the Tushar's Corps clients was a Cleveland-based business owner who provides assistance to individuals who have hidden disabilities ex:  ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Emotional/Behavioral Disorders.

The business owner expected a sharp increase in the demand for its services due to recent legislative changes. Thus, she wanted to re-evaluate her business plan in order to accommodate the anticipated increase. To accomplish this goal, Tushar led a three-month goal planning approach that would help his client identify new ways the company could become more profitable.

Tushar's Success

Tushar and the owner worked together to analyze each service provided by the company and the capacity at which each service should be operating. Then they formulated an overall goal to increase annual revenues by 80% over the next two years.

Later they dissected that goal into several quantifiable and manageable sub-goals. The client was delighted at this breakthrough. However, many challenges remained: identifying key market points, a relevant customer base, and a strategy to reach out to potential customers.

Next, Tushar mentored the owner as they segmented the company's customer-base according to its service offerings. It required educating the owner on the demographics of her customers and cost-effective marketing technqieus such as online ads, newsletters, and partnerships with local non-profits. The end result was an Excel-based reference that would help the owner evaluate her business growth and milestones.
